STEP 1: Export your buyers list as a CSV and upload it to a data append service like datazapp.com to have it cleaned/updated. Ask for the NCOA service (NCOA stands for National Change of Address. It will make sure your mailing list is up to date.)  

STEP 2: Create a postcard that looks as close to your existing proven emails as possible.
For e-comm that usually means an eye-catching picture, a short description, maybe a discount code, and a call to action that takes them to the next step.
(Pro-Tip: QR codes work best. They offer great tracking, can be pointed to whatever landing page you want, and are typo-proof.)

STEP 3: Mail 1,000-5,000 postcards at a time using ‘first-class’ or ‘first-class pre-sort’. My go-to online print and mail vendor is PrintPlace.com.
(Pro-Tip: Best day to mail is Friday as long as there is no mail holiday on Monday.)
Response should start on Tuesday and peak by the end of the week. Half your response will come in the first week with the other half spread over the next 3 weeks.

STEP 4: Measure, split test, and repeat.
The longest mail campaign my colleagues have done like this worked for 6+ years WITHOUT ANY CHANGES TO THE CREATIVE. Try that with digital ads!

Here’s why this works so well; Direct mail is making a strong comeback and we’re seeing numbers in some verticals we haven’t seen since the 90’s.
